Bloody Caesar (Bloody Mary with Clamato Juice)

Better than a Bloody Mary if you’re a seafood lover because it’s made with Clamato juice instead of tomato juice. The Bloody Caesar is the national drink of Canada. No wonder they’re so laid back!

The difference between this Bloody Caesar recipe and a Bloody Mary recipe is that a Bloody Caesar is made with Clamato juice; part tomato and part clam juice. Clamato is also used to make a Michelada.

For you non-beer lovers this is a terrific alternative to serve with hot dogs.

Pairs perfectly with a seafood brunch, such as bagels and lox. Or hot dogs.

Ingredients

  • Glass rim and garnish
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning

  • 2 slices Meyer lemon for garnish

  • 2 stalks celery for garnish

  • The cocktail
  • 3.5 cups clamato juice, plain; or picante if you like an extra kick

  • 1 cup vodka

  • 1 Meyer lemon, juiced

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons prepared horseradish

  • 1/2 tablespoon hot sauce, I like Frank’s

  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed

  • freshly ground black pepper

  • ice cubes

Directions

  • Glass rim and garnish
  • Sprinkle Old Bay on a plate.
  • Run lemon wedge around the rim of two tall glasses.
  • Turn the glasses upside down into the seasoning and twist slightly until the rims are coated.
  • Carefully add a trimmed celery stalk and lemon slice to each glass.
  • The cocktail
  • Combine all of remaining ingredients except for ice cubes in measuring cup and combine well.
  • Carefully fill tumblers with ice cubes.
  • Fill with cocktail mixture and serve.

Notes

  • *for a virgin mocktail replace vodka with pickle juice.
