Bacon Candy

Candied bacon is sweet, spicy, and salty. And bacon flavored!!!

Bacon candy, also known as pig candy, is delicious as is or can be used in all kinds of recipes from jalapeño poppers to ice cream.

EQUIPMENT: baking sheet (cookie tray), parchment paper

Bacon candy, also known as pig candy, is delicious as is or can be used in all kinds of recipes from jalapeno poppers to ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices thick cut, smoked bacon

  • 1 teaspoon chile powder

  • 6 tablespoons favorite barbecue rub

  • 6 tablespoons light brown sugar

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Place parchment paper over a baking sheet.
  • Arrange bacon slices on top.
  • Mix chile powder, barbecue rub, and brown sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle liberally over the bacon slices.
  • Place the baking sheet in the center of the oven and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Check the bacon. It should be golden brown. If not, cook for about 5 or 10 minutes longer.
  • Remove the baking sheet and transfer the bacon to a cutting board. Slice crosswise into squares. Transfer to a serving platter or individual plates.
