Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Zesty White Barbecue Sauce

Change up your wings with a Zesty White BBQ sauce. They can be cooked in an air fryer, a cast iron skillet, or on a BBQ.

Use your favorite barbecue rub. Serve them with fun sides. I blistered some cherry tomatoes in the cast iron skillet with some balsamic vinegar. Make some fried potatoes, or french fries and serve them with Yum Yum Sauce. Use russet potatoes or try sweet or purple potatoes. Try some air fryer onion rings. Instead of celery, I invented a Celery Dipping Sauce. Of course, you should serve them with your favorite hot sauce. Wings can hurt so good!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chicken bone broth (can substitute white wine and butter)

  • 9 chicken wings (frozen or thawed), whole, tips removed, or drumettes

  • Zesty White Barbecue Sauce

  • high smoke point oil spray (I use avocado oil)

  • 3 teaspoons favorite barbecue rub

  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

  • Celery Dipping Sauce, for serving

Directions

  • Pour broth or wine and butter into the Instant Pot.
  • Place the chicken wings into the air fryer basket and set the basket in the pot.
  • Pressure cook on high pressure for 10 minutes for thawed wings and 12 minutes for frozen.
  • While the wings are cooking, make White Barbecue Sauce. Mix together your favorite barbecue rub with the cornstarch.
  • Quick release the pressure.
  • Remove the air fryer basket and discard the liquid in the pot.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with oil. Spray the wings with oil and toss.
  • Sprinkle wings with the barbecue rub and cornstarch mixture. Toss again.
  • Use the air fryer lid and air fry for 10-20 minutes at 400°F. Respray and toss wings every 5 minutes to prevent sticking.
  • Remove wings from the pot to a serving dish and toss in Zesty White Barbecue Sauce.
  • Serve immediately with Celery Dipping Sauce.
