This classic creamy coleslaw recipe has crispy cabbage and carrots tossed in a tangy mayonnaise dressing.

This American favorite is perfect for barbecues and potlucks. Just be sure to keep it cold.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 head Napa green cabbage

  • 1/2 head red cabbage

  • 2 carrots, peeled

  • 2 green onions, finely chopped (optional)

  • Dressing
  • 1 cup Kewpie mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice

  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • favorite hot pepper sauce (to taste)

Directions

  • Combine dressing ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Add more mayonnaise if a thicker dressing is desired.
  • Add a few dashes of hot sauce and stir.
  • Taste and correct seasonings.
  • Slice cabbages very thinly.
  • Use a grater to shred carrots.
  • Add cabbage and carrots to the dressing and stir until combined.
  • Add green onions, if using, and stir.
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hours before serving.
