Fight a Cold Orange Smoothie

Quickly blend this orange smoothie with carrot, turmeric, and ginger for a pick-me-up. It’s full of vitamins A and C.

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. Don’t leave out the black pepper, it activates the curcumin. Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger. Both have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Quickly blend this orange carrot smoothie for a pick-me-up.

Ingredients

  • 1 peeled, frozen banana

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 1 orange, peeled and cut up into chunks, seeds removed

  • 1 washed, unpeeled carrot, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated, peeled ginger root

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated, peeled turmeric root or 1/2 teaspoon powdered

  • a few grinds of black peppercorns

  • fortified, unflavored, unsweetened almond or regular milk to fill line

Directions

  • Add all ingredients to the single serving cup.
  • Pulse blend until smooth.
