This homemade thousand island dressing recipe combines sweet and tangy with a hint of hot.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Kewpie mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed Meyer lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon garlic, from a jar

  • 2 teaspoons sweet pickle relish

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • a few drops hot sauce, to taste

Directions

  • Make a paste with the garlic and salt by crushing them with the side of a chef’s knife.
  • Whisk together the remaining ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and hot sauce to taste. Chill 1 hour.
