Phở, pronounced “fuh,” is Vietnamese beef noodle soup made with clear beef broth and flat rice noodles (báhn phở) served with thin cuts of beef. The beef can be steak, fatty flank, lean flank, or brisket. Tái means Medium Rare Meat. Phở is considered Vietnam’s national dish.

The rich, Savory broth and ease of preparation will make this a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (.20 fl oz) Nona Lim Phở Beef Bone Broth

  • 7 oz dried rice stick noodles

  • 8 oz sirloin steak, slightly frozen

  • 1 cup Mung bean sprouts

  • 1 jalapeño, sliced

  • 2 sprigs mint

  • 2 sprigs Thai basil

  • 2 sprigs cilantro

  • 2 green onions, sliced

  • Hoisin sauce

  • Siracha sauce

  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Directions

  • Pour boiling water over noodles. Let stand for 5 minutes or according to package directions.
  • Bring bone broth to a boil. Remove from heat.
  • Arrange remaining ingredients on a platter.
  • Slice steak extremely thinly.
  • Drain noodles and place in deep warmed bowls. Arrange steak on top and pour hot broth over. Serve immediately. Each person adds their choice of condiments to their soup.
