Lassi is a refreshing, probiotic drink that is very popular in northern India. It is made by blending yogurt with water or milk, salt or sugar, and a few spices or herbs.

Persimmons have a sweet, honey-like flavor. They’re full nutrients that can benefit your health in many ways. They are an excellent source of powerful antioxidants like carotenoids and flavonoids, including quercetin and kaempferol.

EQUIPMENT: Ninja blender, cast iron skillet, spice or coffee grinder or mortar and pestle

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe, soft Hachiya persimmons

  • 1 cup filtered water

  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cumin

  • 1 cup organic whole plain greek yogurt

  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

  • Puree persimmons with water.
  • Place a cast iron skillet over medium heat and add whole cumin. Toast cumin, stirring constantly, until it becomes aromatic. Remove from heat and grind to a powder.*
  • Mix together all ingredients.
  • Serve in a glass over ice.
  • Garnish with mint.

Notes

  • *alternatively, you can quickly toast ground cumin.
